Huge news - let me get you up to speed
We're building a shed! Like a big one
And I know this may seen anticlimactic for the amount of excitement I'm putting into this but this is a HUGE step for us.
We built our house in the middle of a pasture field with no other buildings around, which has been a blessing and a curse. Alex and I often talk about how great it is that we get to decide exactly where we want everything to be and at the same time how hard it is to start from scratch and actually make those decisions.
We've been getting by by using makeshift buildings, our garage and small shelters to hold our farm equipment, animal food and machinery.
And right now we're at the point of tipping because we're running out of room. The south bay of our garage is like a maze, our makeshift shed isn't ideal and our shelters are full.
So it's time
This shed will allow us to make everything more organized and separate the farm from the house a bit, instead of having everything all together.
We've been working on this project since February and let me tell you, it's been a ride. Between the cost and frustrating building permits, we honestly thought we were going to have to push it off until next year.
The other nice thing about this whole project, is that my dad is foreseeing the entire construction. I come from a family of home builders, and I even worked for my dad back in the day. Our site supervisor has been a family friend for a LONG time and the shovel operator that was here Wednesday and Thursday, actually dug our house 10 years ago. Many of the same trades that built our home will be coming back to build the shed and it's kinda cool.
Just like everything else we do - we're keeping it as local as possible.
So what does this mean for the store?
Nothing really to be honest.
The store is still open and running as per usual, there just may be some extra vehicles going in and out of the driveway.
